Amerinet names Courtney as VP
Amerinet Inc appointed Brian J. Courtney as VP, clinical field specialists. In this position, he will oversee clinical specialists for the pharmacy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, nutrition, capital and construction, and Amerinet Choice teams. Courtney has more than 10 years of experience leading medical services and product organizations, including leadership positions with Triad Isotopes, Covidien Healthcare and Syncor International.

Premier promotes Alkire to COO
Premier Inc promoted Michael Alkire to the position of COO, effective immediately. In his new position, Alkire will oversee the continued integration of Premier’s clinical, financial and operational performance improvement offerings in supply chain, healthcare informatics, consulting and insurance management services. Alkire formerly served as president of Premier Purchasing Partners, which offers group purchasing, supply chain services and resource utilization data to hospitals and health facilities nationwide. Prior to coming to Premier, Alkire had 20 years of experience running business operations and business development organizations at Deloitte & Touche and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Before joining Premier, he served in a number of leadership roles at Cap Gemini, including North American oversight for supply chain and high-tech manufacturing.

IDN Summit & Expo plans relief effort for Joplin tornado victims
IDN Summit and Expo announced plans to launch a multi-faceted effort to help provide relief to victims of the Joplin, Missouri tornado. Saint John’s Regional Medical Center (Joplin, MO) suffered a direct hit from the tornado on May 22, 2011. Saint John’s is a part of Sisters of Mercy Health System, a 2010 winner of the IDN Summit Supply Chain of Excellence Award. IDN Summit will honor its colleagues in Joplin with a silent auction and raffle during the 2011 Fall IDN Summit, which is scheduled for September 13-15, 2011 at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix. IDN Summit is committed to raising $25,000 to benefit the Mercy Tornado Relief Fund. IDN Summit is asking for donations of 25 items for the silent auction. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Mercy Tornado Relief Fund. IDN Summit is also asking for donations of up to five items to be given away as part of the raffle. Fitzgerald named head of Parallon Supply Chain Solutions
Jim Fitzgerald was named head of Parallon Supply Chain Solutions, part of HCA’s newly created Parallon Business Solutions. Supply Chain Solutions will provide outsourcing, consulting and management services to healthcare providers. Fitzgerald, who has served as HCA’s supply chain officer since 1994, also serves as president and CEO of HealthTrust Purchasing Group, of which HCA is the majority owner with five other equity partners. Parallon will offer the services of HealthTrust to its customers along with the broader capabilities of the new organization. Parallon Business Solutions was created in February to provide a variety of business services to healthcare providers, including revenue cycle management, payroll, health information management, physician credentialing, staffing and recruiting, in addition to supply chain solutions.
