Ascension internationally recognized for environmental efforts

February 11, 2022 – Ascension was recently recognized with two 2021 Climate Champion awards from Health Care Without Harm, an international organization that works to transform healthcare worldwide to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.

This year, Ascension received the “Climate Resilience – Gold” award for preparing for the impacts of extreme weather and the shifting burden of disease; and the “Climate Leadership – Gold” award for educating associates and communities while promoting policies to protect public health from climate change.

“We are humbled by this global recognition and grateful to be making a difference by protecting the future health of our communities, our environment and all of God’s creation,” said Craig Cordola, MBA, MHA, FACHE, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Ascension was a founding member of the Health Care Climate Council in 2014 with a commitment to the Health Care Climate Challenge. The challenge has grown to include more than 330 institutions representing the interests of over 28,000 hospitals and health centers from more than 40 countries.
