Baylor Scott & White Health announces CEO transition to take place in January 2022

July 1, 2021  –  Baylor Scott & White Health (Dallas, TX) announced that CEO Jim Hinton plans to retire from the role and transition it to President Pete McCanna, effective January 1, 2022.

The transition plan has been in the works since July 2017, when Hinton announced his recruitment of McCanna to serve in the newly formed Office of the President. The two have a long history of collaboration, first working together in New Mexico two decades ago.

McCanna has nearly 35 years of experience in healthcare management and consulting. He served previously as EVP and COO at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare (Chicago, IL). Prior to that, he served as CFO at Presbyterian Healthcare Services in New Mexico and CFO at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver.

“I am honored and grateful to the Holdings Board for the opportunity to extend Baylor Scott & White’s legacy of success as we shape the future of healthcare delivery in new and innovative ways,” McCanna said.
