Malaysian glove manufacturers suspend operations due to EMCO

July 8, 2021 – A recent EMCO (Enhanced Movement Control Order) imposed in Malaysia has led to a temporary suspension of production for some of the world’s largest glove manufacturers.

Malaysia, according to the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA), produces around 60% of the world’s nitrile exam gloves.

The initial order was set to end on July 16, but if extended, it could lead to a significant impact on both the local and international healthcare value chain in terms of disruption to availability of supply.
