September 15, 2021 – Steward Health Care announced Marisela Marrero, MD, will become Steward’s first regional president for the South Florida Region.
In this role, Dr. Marrero will oversee the five hospitals Steward acquired from Tenet Healthcare Corporation last month, including North Shore Medical Center, Coral Gables Hospital, Hialeah Hospital, Palmetto General Hospital, and Florida Medical Center.
Dr. Marrero will lead the hospitals’ efforts to respond to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, as well as to expand high-quality, physician-led healthcare to the diverse communities of South Florida.
Dr. Marrero in August was named as the new president of 378-bed Hialeah Hospital. She will continue to serve in this role in addition to her new regional position.
