Unilever to push further into health products

January 18, 2022 – Unilever PLC wants to push further into health, beauty and hygiene products, disclosing a $68 billion approach for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) PLC’s consumer-health business according to The Wall Street Journal. Buying GSK Consumer Healthcare would be accompanied by significant divestitures as Unilever aims to move its portfolio toward high-growth categories. A successful takeover approach for the business, which is 68% owned by GSK and 32% owned by Pfizer, would be Unilever’s largest ever acquisition and expand its oral care, vitamins and over-the-counter (OTC) medicines presence.
