Yoakam Community Hospital announces new CEO

December 9, 2022 – The Yoakum Community Hospital (YCH) Board of Trustees has announced Tiffany Miller, DBA, MHA, as the new YCH Chief Executive Officer. Miller will begin her new role on January 23, 2023, transitioning from Chief Executive Officer for Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble, Houston, Texas, a 90-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

Miller holds nearly 10 years of executive healthcare experience leading teams to achieve financial, operational and clinical excellence. She will resume the CEO role as CEO Karen Barber retires; Barber served YCH and the local community for 30 years.

Raised in the small Texas town of Spring Branch, Miller is enthusiastic to return to a rural community where she can make a difference in community wellbeing.

During nearly three years with Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Humble – and at the height of the pandemic – Miller met all patient outcome metrics and targeted financial metrics, while improving employee engagement. She has a strong background encompassing all aspects of business development and operations in hospital administration roles.

Prior to Encompass Health, she held hospital administration roles with several national post-acute and regional acute care companies. She served for nearly three years as Administrator of a 74-bed long-term acute care hospital, part of Kindred Healthcare, in Houston. Also in the

Houston area, she served as manager of Population Health Operations for VillageMD, an organization that helps improve quality and the patient experience. During her role as Group Practice Administrator for Victoria Emergency Associates in Austin, Texas, Miller supported new provider contracting and contract renewals, along with developing and implementing strategic business plans. Early in her career, she served with DeTar Healthcare System, a CHS owned, 193-bed hospital, in Victoria, Texas, supporting leading administrative projects.

Miller earned her Doctorate of Business Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, Texas, and a master’s of science degree in health care administration from Trinity University, San Antonio. She earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Texas Lutheran University, Seguin, Texas.

As part of her professional development and involvement, Miller is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives’ SouthEast Texas Chapter, an alumna of the Alpha Kappa Psi, Professional Business Fraternity, and has achieved Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt professional certification. She has been involved in the American Heart Association, American Stroke Association and Lake Houston Area Rotary Club.

YCH has been associated with and managed by Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) of Plano, Texas, since 1998. CHC led the new CEO search process in collaboration with the YCH Board.
