February 8, 2024- Amazon confirmed February 7 that the company is cutting hundreds of jobs across One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy, according to sources including HealthcareDive and Forbes. Amazon acquired the One Medical chain, a membership-based primary care practice, for $3.9 billion last year, in addition to Amazon Pharmacy. The goal of the layoffs is to realign resources to meet the division’s goals, according to HealthcareDive.
All affected employees will receive financial support and benefit continuation. The company is not on a hiring freeze, and will continue to hire providers and employees for One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy.
