May 24, 2023 – Henry Schein Medical is celebrating National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week with the launch of a video highlighting the contributions of EMS professionals and their vital role to help keep communities healthy and safe.
May 21-27, 2023, marks the 49th annual National EMS Week, which was authorized by President Gerald Ford in 1974 to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in the nation’s communities. This year’s theme is EMS: Where Emergency Care Begins.
Aligning with this year’s national theme, Henry Schein Medical EMS’s video features six EMS professionals from Pafford Medical Services, an EMS organization that serves cities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Oklahoma. In a series of short vignettes, each share their experiences as first responders – from their first call to a patient who left a lasting impression, and advice for individuals hoping to become EMS professionals.
“During this EMS Week, it is important that we take a moment to thank our Nation’s paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and all EMS practitioners for their service, while also recognizing that 24- hours a day, seven days a week, these individuals put their lives on the line to help save ours,” said Dan O’Connell, General Manager of Henry Schein Medical’s EMS business. “As a trusted advisor to EMS agencies around the country, it is crucial that we honor and show our appreciation for the incredible work EMS professionals do during times of crisis. They are pillars of our communities, and that should never go unnoticed.”
The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians collaborates with the American College of Emergency Physicians to lead annual EMS Week activities. Together, the organizations work to ensure that the contributions of EMS practitioners in safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of their communities are fully celebrated. And in support, Henry Schein Medical EMS’s video recognizes EMS practitioners and their dedication to the communities they serve.
