March 11, 2024- Novant Health is now the majority owner of and will operate two outpatient surgery centers in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The sites include Southeastern Spine Institute’s Ambulatory Surgery Center, which has six surgery/procedure rooms, and Mount Pleasant Outpatient Surgery Center, which has two procedure rooms with a gastroenterology focus.
More than half of surgeries in the United States are outpatient procedures that are typically performed in ambulatory surgery centers or hospital outpatient departments.
Novant Health has a track record of offering personalized care while prioritizing patient safety and quality at its ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). In 2023, five Novant Health ASCs were named a “Best Ambulatory Surgery Center,” by Money magazine, and only 28 centers nationwide qualified for that list. The magazine partnered with The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that collects and publishes data on patient safety and quality, to compile the elite list.
