Some news on MedAssets, Premier and UHC, from the Dail-e News.

MedAssets enhances eCommerce Exchange

MedAssets (Alpharetta, GA) announced enhancements to the MedAssets eCommerce Exchange, a proprietary ecommerce platform designed to automate healthcare provider purchasing operations. The scalable architecture connects a health system’s disparate purchasing operations electronically with suppliers to remove manual tasks that can erode the value of supply contract portfolios. It automates a variety of supply chain-related documents, including purchase orders (POs), PO acknowledgments, advanced shipment notices, invoices, remittance and product/price catalogs.

Premier awards agreement to Nova Biomedical
Premier Inc (Charlotte, NC) awarded a new agreement in its Point of Care category for creatinine hand-held analyzers to Nova Biomedical Corp (Waltham, MA). The contract, effective July 1, 2011, is available to acute care and continuum of care members of Premier.

UHC releases Base Medicare Severity Diagnosis-Related Group Report capability
UHC (Chicago, IL) announced the new Base Medicare Severity Diagnosis-Related Group (MS-DRG) Report capability, which links clinical and supply data to identify potential savings opportunities for supply-intensive medical/surgical service lines and procedures. The MS-DRG Report capability is another enhancement of UHC’s spend analytics tool, SpendLINK®. The report displays information from the UHC Clinical Data Base/Resource Manager™ and gives users access to both clinical and supply data within the same reporting system, allowing healthcare executives to pinpoint costs in the continuum of care for each patient.
