Survey details ongoing shortage of cancer medications

September 15, 2026- A survey released Sept. 10 by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network highlights ongoing shortages of cancer medications, according to the American Hospital Association. All responding cancer centers reported a shortage of at least one anti-cancer agent, with more than 20% currently experiencing a shortage of five or more medications. Of particular note, 94% of respondents indicated a critical shortage of ifosfamide — a generic drug used to treat a variety of cancers — and 71% reported a shortage of the cancer-treating drug carboplatin.
